Reposted Review: Viscount of Vice (Covent Garden Cubs 0.5) by Shana Galen

Hey folks! I’m migrating my reviews from Banned Bitches that were originally on thisiswickedfierce.com here, so they aren’t in any sort of uniform format or…

Well, basically this is all just a mess.

Apologies and all my wicked fierce love,
Ginny Lurcock

Viscount of Vice coverWhispers and secrets are no match for love…

Henry Flynn, the new Lord Chesham, still blames himself for the disappearance of his younger brother when they were children. That incident destroyed his family, and now he’s on a path of self-destruction that no one can interrupt…

Lady Emma Talbot can’t stand watching the man she secretly loves destroy himself little by little. She’s determined to show him that no one holds him culpable, before it’s too late. But Emma doesn’t know what really happened to Flynn on that fateful day long ago, so what chance does she have of saving him from himself?

Ginny’s review: I adore Shana Galen and her writing, so when I had the chance to review the introductory novella to her new series I jumped at it. And I’m happy I did … for the most part. The thing is, the romance aspect of the story felt a bit superficial and fell a bit short of the absurdly high bar I set for Ms. Galen.

I mean, I get that Flynn and Emma have a previous relationship (strictly platonic, much to both their displeasure) but I still want more for them. More depth, more conflict, more smexy times alone in the dark.

Damn it, I need more!

Which, I suppose, means the novella did it’s job as now I’m going to have to pre-order the first full length novel in the series, Earls Just Want to Have Fun, due February 3rd.

If you haven’t read anything else by Ms. Galen, I suggest starting elsewhere. Her Jewels of the Ton series for example, the third volume of which features Emma’s brother. (And boy, did he turn into an uptight douche between books. Though, since he’s dealing with a rake known to associate with his sister I’m not sure I can blame him.)

However, if you’ve read all of Ms. Galen’s titles and are desperate for a fix, pick this up. Just remember, while the adventure in this tale gets it’s fair share, the romance is a bit light.

I received a copy of this title from Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
